Guidelines for responsible use of GreatLibrary.AI

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the GreatLibrary.AI platform and services operated by Alexandria AI Systems. By using our Service, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.
1. General Principles
GreatLibrary.AI is designed to help users create valuable, meaningful content. We expect all users to:
- Use the Service responsibly and ethically
- Respect the rights of others
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
- Not attempt to harm, deceive, or exploit others
- Take responsibility for the content they create and publish
2. Prohibited Content
You may NOT use GreatLibrary.AI to create, generate, store, or distribute the following types of content:
Illegal Content
- Content that violates any local, state, national, or international law
- Content promoting or facilitating illegal activities
- Instructions for illegal activities (drug manufacturing, weapons, etc.)
- Content related to money laundering, fraud, or financial crimes
Examples: Generating an ebook with step-by-step instructions for manufacturing controlled substances. Creating a guide to tax evasion schemes. Publishing content that promotes pyramid schemes or advance-fee fraud.
Child Safety Violations
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind
- Content that sexualizes minors in any way
- Content that exploits or endangers children
- Grooming content or predatory material
Zero tolerance policy: Violations will result in immediate permanent ban and reporting to law enforcement.
Violence and Extremism
- Content promoting terrorism or violent extremism
- Instructions for creating weapons or explosives
- Content glorifying or inciting violence against individuals or groups
- Graphic depictions of extreme violence or gore
- Manifestos or content promoting mass violence
Examples: Generating a book that praises a terrorist organization and recruits members. Creating detailed instructions for building improvised weapons. Producing content that calls for violence against a specific ethnic or religious group.
Hate Speech and Discrimination
- Content promoting hatred based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Slurs, dehumanizing language, or calls for violence against protected groups
- Holocaust denial or genocide denial
- Content promoting white supremacy or other supremacist ideologies
Examples: Generating a book that characterizes an entire ethnic group as inferior. Creating content that denies documented historical atrocities. Producing material that advocates for the segregation or exclusion of people based on their identity.
Non-Consensual Sexual Content
- Non-consensual intimate imagery ("revenge porn")
- Deepfakes or synthetic sexual content of real people without consent
- Content depicting sexual assault or rape
- Sexual content involving animals (bestiality)
Examples: Using AI to generate synthetic intimate images of a real public figure. Creating fiction that graphically depicts sexual violence as entertainment. Producing AI-generated cover art depicting non-consensual scenarios.
Harassment and Abuse
- Content designed to harass, bully, or intimidate specific individuals
- Doxxing or sharing private information without consent
- Threats of violence or harm
- Stalking or obsessive content about individuals
- Coordinated harassment campaigns
Examples: Generating an ebook that publishes a person's home address and phone number. Creating content that repeatedly threatens a former partner. Using the platform to produce defamatory material about a colleague or classmate.
Misinformation and Deception
- Deliberately false medical information that could cause harm
- Election misinformation or voter suppression content
- Impersonation of real people, organizations, or government entities
- Fake news designed to deceive or manipulate
- Fraudulent schemes or scam content
Examples: Generating a health book claiming a dangerous substance cures a serious disease. Creating content that falsely claims a polling station has changed its location. Publishing an ebook under the name of a real doctor who did not write it.
Intellectual Property Violations
- Content that knowingly infringes copyrights or trademarks
- Pirated or stolen content
- Unauthorized use of brand names, logos, or proprietary content
- Plagiarism or passing off others' work as your own
Examples: Copying chapters from a published bestseller and publishing them as your own ebook. Using a well-known brand logo as your book cover without authorization. Generating an ebook that is a thinly disguised reproduction of a copyrighted work.
Spam and Abuse
- Mass generation of low-quality or nonsensical content
- Content designed solely for SEO manipulation
- Fake reviews or testimonials
- Phishing content or credential harvesting
- Malware distribution or links to malicious sites
Examples: Generating 50 near-identical keyword-stuffed ebooks overnight to game search rankings. Creating fake five-star reviews for your storefront listing. Embedding links in ebook content that redirect readers to phishing sites.
Academic Dishonesty
- Submitting AI-generated content as your own original academic work
- Content designed to circumvent plagiarism detection
- Exam answers or assignment solutions for academic fraud
Note: Using AI as a learning tool or writing assistant with proper disclosure is permitted.
Examples: Generating an entire thesis and submitting it as your own work without disclosing AI involvement. Using the platform to create answers to a take-home exam. Producing content specifically designed to evade Turnitin or similar plagiarism detection tools.
Privacy Violations
- Publishing personal data (addresses, phone numbers, financial information, government IDs) of third parties without their explicit consent
- Creating content that aggregates or cross-references personal information to build dossiers on individuals
- Using the platform to process sensitive personal data (health, biometric, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation) of identifiable individuals without a lawful basis
- Generating AI content designed to profile, surveil, or track individuals without their knowledge
- Circumventing privacy controls or data protection measures on any platform or system
- Scraping, harvesting, or collecting personal data from the GreatLibrary.AI platform or its users for unauthorized purposes
Note: Publishing your own biographical information (as in memoirs or autobiographies) and information about public figures in a journalistic or educational context with appropriate care is permitted.
Examples: Generating a book that includes the home addresses and personal phone numbers of named individuals without their consent. Using the platform to create a profile that aggregates social media data about a specific person. Producing content that instructs readers how to bypass privacy settings on social media platforms.
3. Permitted Use
GreatLibrary.AI is designed for legitimate creative and educational purposes:
Encouraged Uses
- Creating original fiction, non-fiction, and creative writing
- Writing memoirs, autobiographies, and personal histories
- Educational content and learning materials
- Business books, guides, and professional content
- Self-help, wellness, and personal development content
- Research assistance and brainstorming
- Content creation for personal projects
- Legitimate journalism and reporting (with appropriate disclosure)
4. AI Content Responsibility
When using AI-generated content, you agree to:
- Review all content before publication for accuracy and appropriateness
- Fact-check claims made in AI-generated content
- Disclose AI involvement where required by law, platform policies, or ethical standards
- Not misrepresent AI-generated content as human-written when disclosure is required
- Accept responsibility for all content you publish, regardless of how it was generated
4a. AI-Specific Usage Guidelines
Because GreatLibrary.AI is an AI-powered platform, the following additional guidelines apply specifically to AI-generated content:
4a.1 Prohibited AI Uses
- Prompt injection attacks: Attempting to manipulate AI systems through adversarial prompts designed to bypass safety filters, extract system instructions, or cause unintended behavior is prohibited
- Automated disinformation: Using the platform to mass-produce false or misleading content for distribution across social media, news outlets, or other platforms
- Synthetic identity creation: Generating realistic biographical content, fake credentials, or fabricated testimonials intended to create false identities or impersonate real people
- Circumventing AI safety measures: Deliberately crafting prompts to cause the AI to produce prohibited content that it would otherwise refuse to generate
- Model extraction: Systematically querying the platform to reverse-engineer, replicate, or extract the underlying AI models or their training data
4a.2 Responsible AI Disclosure
- Where you publish AI-generated content, you should disclose AI involvement when required by applicable law, publisher guidelines, or platform policies of the distribution channel
- You must not represent AI-generated content as exclusively human-authored in contexts where such misrepresentation would violate applicable regulations (for example, the EU AI Act transparency requirements for AI-generated content)
- When selling AI-generated books on the storefront, accurate disclosure of AI involvement in the book description is strongly encouraged and may be required in certain jurisdictions
4a.2a EU AI Act Compliance (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689)
GreatLibrary.AI operates as a deployer of general-purpose AI systems under the EU AI Act. In accordance with the Act's transparency obligations:
- Disclosure of AI-generated content: All text and images produced through our platform are generated by AI systems. Users distributing AI-generated content in the EU must ensure that the content is clearly marked as artificially generated or manipulated, as required by Article 50(2) of the EU AI Act
- Provider information: The AI models used by our platform are provided by OpenAI (GPT-4o, GPT-4o-mini, gpt-image-1, DALL-E 3), Google (Gemini via Vertex AI), and Microsoft (DeepSeek via Azure AI Foundry). These providers are responsible for their own AI Act compliance obligations as providers of general-purpose AI models
- Prohibited practices: We do not use AI for any of the prohibited practices listed in Article 5 of the EU AI Act, including subliminal manipulation, exploitation of vulnerabilities, social scoring, or real-time biometric identification
- Risk management: We monitor the AI outputs generated through our platform and maintain processes to address content that may pose risks to health, safety, or fundamental rights
4a.3 AI Output Limitations
Users acknowledge that AI-generated content is probabilistic in nature. You must not:
- Present AI-generated medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical content as professional advice without independent expert review
- Use AI-generated content in regulatory filings, court documents, or official submissions without human verification and appropriate professional oversight
- Rely on AI-generated citations, references, or quotations without independently verifying their accuracy, as AI systems may generate plausible but fabricated references
4a.4 Synthetic Media and Deepfake Restrictions
In accordance with the EU AI Act Article 50(4) and emerging international standards on synthetic media, the following restrictions apply to AI-generated images and content produced through GreatLibrary.AI:
- No realistic depictions of real individuals: You must not use AI image generation to create realistic images of identifiable real people without their explicit, documented consent. This includes public figures, celebrities, politicians, and private individuals
- No deceptive synthetic media: Content designed to deceive viewers into believing it depicts real events, real people, or real places when it does not is prohibited. This includes creating fake news images, fabricated documentary evidence, or misleading historical depictions
- Labeling obligation: If you distribute AI-generated images created through our platform that could reasonably be mistaken for photographs or authentic recordings, you must label them as AI-generated. Under the EU AI Act Article 50(4), persons deploying an AI system that generates or manipulates image, audio, or video content that constitutes a deep fake shall disclose that the content has been artificially generated or manipulated
- Artistic and satirical exceptions: These restrictions do not prohibit clearly fictional, artistic, or satirical content where no reasonable person would mistake the content for an authentic depiction. However, you remain responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable law in your jurisdiction
- Cover art clarification: AI-generated book cover art is not subject to the deepfake labeling requirement when used as cover art, as book covers are understood to be designed artwork rather than documentary images. However, cover art must still not depict identifiable real individuals without consent
4b. AI Ethics Principles for Content Generation
GreatLibrary.AI adheres to the following ethical principles when providing AI content generation services. These principles are informed by the OECD AI Principles, the EU AI Act, and the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.

Ethical concern reporting: If you believe AI-generated content on our platform raises ethical concerns (bias, misinformation, harmful stereotypes), please report it to ethics@greatlibrary.ai. We review all ethical concern reports and may update our AI guardrails in response.
5. Storefront Content Standards
If you use the storefront feature to sell books, additional standards apply:
- Accurate descriptions: Book descriptions, titles, and metadata must accurately represent the content. Misleading or deceptive descriptions are prohibited
- Original or licensed content: You may only sell content you own or have proper rights to distribute. Selling pirated, plagiarized, or unauthorized copies of others' works is strictly prohibited
- AI disclosure: If your book was substantially generated using AI, you should disclose this in the book description where required by applicable platform policies or law
- Pricing fairness: Pricing must be reasonable and not designed to deceive buyers (for example, listing a very short AI-generated text at an unreasonably high price with misleading descriptions)
- No manipulation: You may not manipulate reviews, ratings, or sales metrics through fake purchases, automated means, or coordinated manipulation
5a. Content Rating and Classification
To maintain a safe and appropriate storefront experience, content published on the GreatLibrary.AI storefront should be classified by the author according to the following content rating system:

Failure to accurately rate content may result in the content being reclassified by our moderation team, or removal from the storefront. We reserve the right to restrict the visibility of mature-rated content in search results and recommendations to protect younger users.
6. System Abuse
You may NOT:
- Attempt to bypass content filters or safety systems
- Use automated tools to access the Service beyond normal use
- Attempt to extract, scrape, or harvest data from the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or accounts
- Share account credentials or API access with unauthorized parties
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service
- Circumvent usage limits or quotas
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
6.1 Rate Limits and Resource Usage
To ensure fair access for all users and protect the stability of the Service, the following usage guidelines apply:

Exceeding rate limits results in temporary throttling (HTTP 429 responses). Persistent or deliberate attempts to circumvent rate limits may result in account suspension under Section 8.2.
6.2 API Abuse
Access to GreatLibrary.AI's features is provided through our web application and internal APIs. The following constitute API abuse and are strictly prohibited:
- Unauthorized API access: Accessing internal API endpoints through means other than the official GreatLibrary.AI web interface, unless explicitly authorized in writing
- Credential sharing: Sharing, selling, or distributing your account credentials, session tokens, or any form of API access with third parties
- Token harvesting: Attempting to extract, intercept, or reuse authentication tokens, session identifiers, or API keys
- Request manipulation: Modifying API requests to bypass validation, circumvent usage limits, or access features not included in your subscription tier
- Bulk automation: Using scripts, bots, or automated tools to generate content at scale beyond normal individual use, unless you hold an Enterprise subscription with explicit written authorization for automated workflows
- Denial-of-service: Flooding API endpoints with requests intended to degrade service performance for other users or overwhelm platform resources
- Cost evasion: Exploiting free tier limits, trial periods, or promotional offers through multiple accounts or other deceptive means to avoid paying for service usage
Suspected API abuse will be investigated and may result in immediate account suspension. See Section 8 (Enforcement) for the full range of consequences.
6.3 Automated Scraping and Data Harvesting
Automated extraction of data from GreatLibrary.AI is prohibited except as expressly permitted below:
- Prohibited: Crawling, scraping, or programmatically downloading content from the public library, storefront, user profiles, or any part of the platform using automated tools (including but not limited to web scrapers, spiders, bots, browser automation scripts, or headless browsers)
- Prohibited: Harvesting user data, email addresses, usernames, or any personal information from the platform for any purpose
- Prohibited: Mirroring, caching, or reproducing substantial portions of the platform's content on external servers or services
- Prohibited: Using the platform's output as training data for competing AI services or machine learning models without explicit written permission
- Permitted: Downloading your own content through the official export features (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, etc.) provided in the application
- Permitted: Using the account data export feature under Terms of Service Section 11b for data portability purposes
- Permitted: Standard search engine indexing of publicly accessible pages (robots.txt directives must be respected)
We employ technical measures (rate limiting, bot detection, CAPTCHA challenges) to detect and prevent automated scraping. Circumventing these measures is a violation of this policy and may also violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) and similar laws in your jurisdiction.
6.4 Resale and Redistribution of AI-Generated Content
GreatLibrary.AI grants users rights to use AI-generated content as described in the Terms of Service Section 5 (Content Ownership and Rights). The following restrictions apply to the resale and redistribution of content generated through the platform:
- Permitted: Selling completed ebooks that you have created, reviewed, and edited through the GreatLibrary.AI platform, including through our built-in storefront or external retailers (Amazon KDP, etc.)
- Permitted: Using AI-generated content as a starting point for derivative works that incorporate substantial original creative contribution
- Prohibited: Mass-producing AI-generated content with minimal or no human review, editing, or creative input for the sole purpose of resale at volume (content farming)
- Prohibited: Reselling raw, unedited AI outputs as finished products without meaningful human contribution (such as generating dozens of books per day without review)
- Prohibited: Reselling or sublicensing access to the GreatLibrary.AI platform itself, or offering AI-generated content creation as a service using your GreatLibrary.AI account on behalf of third parties without an Enterprise agreement
- Prohibited: Systematically generating cover art or images to sell as standalone assets (stock images, clip art, design templates) rather than as components of complete ebooks
- Prohibited: Misrepresenting the nature of AI-generated content to buyers (for example, advertising a book as "hand-written" or "personally authored" when it is predominantly AI-generated without disclosure)
We reserve the right to investigate accounts exhibiting patterns of content farming and to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions. If you are unsure whether a specific use case is permitted, contact support@greatlibrary.ai before proceeding.
6.5 Fair Use and Resource Allocation Policy
To ensure equitable access to platform resources for all users, the following fair use principles apply in addition to the hard rate limits documented in Section 6.1:

No surprise terminations: We will not terminate your account solely for exceeding fair use thresholds without first (a) notifying you of the issue, (b) providing a reasonable opportunity to reduce usage, and (c) offering a path to an upgraded plan if your usage genuinely requires higher limits. This does not apply to abuse, fraud, or violations of other sections of this policy, where immediate action may be warranted.
Enterprise exceptions: Enterprise subscribers may negotiate custom fair use thresholds as part of their service agreement. Contact enterprise@greatlibrary.ai for details.
7. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content that violates this policy, please report it to:
- Email: abuse@greatlibrary.ai
- Subject Line: AUP Violation Report -- [Category]
Please include the following information in your report:
- Description of the violation: What content or behavior violates this policy
- Category: Which section of this policy is being violated (e.g., Hate Speech, CSAM, Spam)
- Location of the content: URL, book title, author name, or other identifying information
- Evidence: Screenshots, links, or other documentation supporting your report
- Your contact information: Name and email address for follow-up
- Urgency level: Whether you believe this involves immediate danger or harm to individuals
7.1 Trusted Reporter Program
In accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (Article 22), we may establish a Trusted Flagger / Trusted Reporter program for organizations that demonstrate particular expertise in identifying certain types of illegal or harmful content. Trusted Reporters' submissions will receive priority review. Organizations interested in becoming Trusted Reporters may apply by contacting legal@greatlibrary.ai.
7.2 Anonymous Reporting
You may submit reports anonymously. However, please note that anonymous reports may be more difficult to investigate, and we will not be able to notify you of the outcome. We encourage providing at least an email address so we can request additional information if needed.
7.3 Protection Against Retaliation
We prohibit retaliation against users who report violations in good faith. If you believe you have experienced retaliation for filing a report, please contact appeals@greatlibrary.ai immediately.
8. Enforcement
8.1 Investigation
We may investigate potential violations and take appropriate action at our sole discretion. We may review user content and account activity when we have reason to believe a violation has occurred.
Our investigation process follows these timelines:
- Acknowledgment: Reports are acknowledged within 2 business days of receipt
- Initial review: Reports are triaged within 3 business days to assess severity and determine appropriate action
- Resolution: Standard violations are resolved within 10 business days. The reporting party will be notified of the outcome
- Urgent matters: Reports involving child safety, credible violence threats, or terrorism are escalated immediately and may be reported to law enforcement within 24 hours

If we are unable to meet these timelines due to the complexity of a case or external factors (such as awaiting law enforcement guidance), we will notify the reporter of the delay and provide an updated estimated resolution date.
8.2 Consequences
Violations of this policy may result in:
- Warning: For minor or first-time violations
- Content removal: Deletion of violating content
- Temporary suspension: Account access suspended for a period
- Permanent termination: Account permanently banned without refund
- Legal action: Reporting to law enforcement or pursuing legal remedies
Severe violations (child safety, terrorism, credible violence threats) will result in immediate permanent termination and reporting to appropriate authorities.

8.2b Community Guidelines Reference
This Acceptable Use Policy works in conjunction with the Community Guidelines defined in our Terms of Service (Section 18g). The Community Guidelines set standards for content published through public-facing features (the library and storefront), while this policy covers all use of the platform.
Key relationships between these policies:
- Public content: Content published to the library or storefront must comply with both the Community Guidelines and this Acceptable Use Policy
- Private content: Ebooks and materials kept private need only comply with this Acceptable Use Policy (broader scope)
- Enforcement overlap: A single violation may trigger enforcement under both policies. In such cases, the more protective standard applies
- Appeals: The appeal process described in Section 8a below applies to enforcement actions under both policies
8.3 Appeals
If you believe your account was wrongly suspended or terminated, you may appeal by contacting appeals@greatlibrary.ai within 14 days. Your appeal should include:
- Your account email address
- The date of the suspension or termination
- A detailed explanation of why you believe the decision was made in error
- Any supporting evidence or context
We will acknowledge receipt of your appeal within 3 business days and provide a substantive response within 15 business days. Appeals are reviewed by a different staff member than the one who made the original enforcement decision. While we take all appeals seriously, we are not obligated to reverse decisions.
EU Digital Services Act (DSA) users: If you are located in the EU, you additionally have the right to refer a dispute arising from an enforcement decision to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body, as provided by DSA Article 21. You may also lodge a complaint with the Digital Services Coordinator in your member state.
8.4 Enforcement Data Retention
When we take enforcement action against content or accounts, we retain the following records:
- Reports and complaints: Retained for 3 years from the date of resolution for legal compliance and to support repeat infringer detection
- Enforcement decisions: The nature of the violation, the action taken, and the date are retained for 3 years
- Removed content: Content removed for policy violations may be retained in a restricted archive for up to 90 days in case of appeal or legal proceedings, after which it is permanently deleted
- Appeal records: Appeal submissions and outcomes are retained for 3 years
- User notification records: Records of notifications sent to affected users are retained for 3 years
This retention is necessary for our legitimate interest in maintaining platform safety, complying with legal obligations (including the EU Digital Services Act), and supporting the repeat infringer policy described in our DMCA Policy.
8.5 Transparency
We are committed to transparency in our enforcement actions. We will publish annual transparency reports by March 31 of each year covering the preceding calendar year. These reports will include:
- The total number of reports received, broken down by violation category
- The number of reports received from automated detection versus user reports
- The median time to resolve reports
- The number of content removals, account suspensions, and account terminations
- The number of appeals received, the number upheld, and the number reversed

These reports will not include any personally identifiable information about users or reporters. Reports will be published on our website and announced via the platform.

8a.1 Eligibility
You may appeal any of the following enforcement actions:
- Content removal from the public library or storefront
- Temporary account suspension
- Feature restrictions (such as storefront publishing restrictions)
- Permanent account termination (except where termination was required by law enforcement or a court order)
8a.2 How to File an Appeal
- Submit your appeal by emailing appeals@greatlibrary.ai within 14 calendar days of the enforcement action

- Creating fake reviews or using bots to inflate sales numbers
- Selling repackaged content that you copied from other publicly available sources
- Listing content under a misleading category to attract more buyers

- Systematically querying the AI to map out its safety boundaries for the purpose of circumvention
8c. Enforcement Transparency
We are committed to transparency in how we enforce this Acceptable Use Policy. We publish enforcement statistics to help our community understand how we moderate content and protect users.
8c.1 Monthly Enforcement Report
Beginning Q3 2026, we will publish a monthly enforcement transparency report on our website covering the previous calendar month. Each report will include:
- Total reports received: Number of user reports, automated detections, and trusted reporter flags received
- Reports actioned: Number of reports that resulted in content removal, warnings, suspensions, or terminations
- Reports dismissed: Number of reports closed without action (with breakdown by reason: insufficient evidence, not a violation, duplicate report)
- Average response time: Median time from report received to initial review and to final resolution
- Appeals filed: Number of enforcement appeals submitted and their outcomes (upheld, overturned, modified)

8e. Automated Content Moderation Disclosure
In accordance with the EU Digital Services Act (Article 14(1)) and our commitment to transparency, we disclose the following information about our content moderation practices:
8e.1 Automated Systems
We use the following automated systems as part of our content moderation approach:
- AI provider safety filters: Content generated through our platform passes through OpenAI's built-in content safety filters, which refuse to generate prohibited content categories (CSAM, detailed violence instructions, etc.). These filters operate at the AI model level and cannot be bypassed through our platform
- Input validation: User prompts and inputs are validated server-side for known patterns associated with prohibited content generation (prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, prohibited category keywords)
- Rate limiting: Automated rate limiting detects and throttles abnormal usage patterns that may indicate abuse, spam generation, or automated attacks
- Storefront content scanning: Books published to the public storefront undergo automated metadata review for prohibited content indicators before public listing
8e.2 Human Review
Automated systems do not make final enforcement decisions alone. The following human review processes are in place:
- User reports: All user-submitted abuse reports (see Section 7) are reviewed by a human moderator
- Escalation: Content flagged by automated systems that does not meet the threshold for immediate action is queued for human review

Right to explanation: If your content is moderated or your account is actioned, you have the right to receive a clear explanation of the reason, the specific policy provision violated, and the evidence relied upon. This explanation will be provided in the notification email sent at the time of enforcement.
8e.3 Data Protection in Content Moderation
Content moderation activities involve processing personal data. We handle this data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law:
- Legal basis: Content moderation is processed under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f) (legitimate interest in maintaining platform safety and compliance with legal obligations). For EU users, it also fulfills obligations under the Digital Services Act
- Data minimization: Automated systems process only the content necessary for moderation decisions. User identity information is not shared with AI safety filters -- only the content payload is analyzed
- Access controls: Content under review is accessible only to authorized moderation staff on a need-to-know basis. Staff accessing user content for moderation purposes are bound by confidentiality obligations
- Retention: Content flagged but found not to violate policies is de-flagged and the review record is anonymized within 30 days. See Section 8.4 for enforcement action retention periods

- Pre-generation filtering: AI provider safety filters screen prompts and instructions before content generation begins. Content that triggers safety filters at the provider level (OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, Microsoft Azure AI) is blocked before generation completes
- Post-generation review: Generated content is subject to automated scanning for prohibited content categories (child safety violations, extreme violence, personal data exposure) before being stored in the user's account
- Storefront publication review: Content submitted for publication on the public storefront undergoes additional review against our content rating and classification standards (Section 5a) before being made publicly accessible
- User reports: Any person (whether a registered user or not) may report content they believe violates this policy by emailing abuse@greatlibrary.ai or by using the in-app reporting mechanism on storefront listings

- Right to respond: Before a final decision is made on non-critical violations, you will have the opportunity to provide context or explanation regarding the content in question. You have 5 business days to respond to an inquiry
- Right to a statement of reasons: Every enforcement action is accompanied by a clear, specific statement explaining which provision of this policy or applicable law was violated, the facts on which the decision was based, and the scope of the action taken (per EU DSA Article 17)
- Right to appeal: You may appeal any enforcement decision within 30 days by following the process in Section 8a. Appeals are reviewed by a person who was not involved in the original decision
- Right to data access: You retain the right to export your personal data and content throughout any moderation process (except where content has been removed for legal reasons such as CSAM, where law enforcement notification takes precedence)
- Right to external redress: If you are in the EU, you may refer the matter to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act (Article 21), in addition to exercising your appeal rights with us
8g.4 Content Preservation During Disputes
When content is removed or restricted pending an appeal:
- The content is preserved internally (but not publicly visible) for the duration of the appeal period (30 days) plus any active appeal review (up to 15 additional business days)
- If the appeal is upheld and the content is found not to violate this policy, it will be restored to its previous state within 48 hours of the appeal decision
- If the appeal is denied and all appeal avenues are exhausted, the content is permanently deleted 30 days after the final decision, unless legal requirements mandate earlier deletion or longer retention
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you disagree with changes, you should stop using the Service before the changes take effect.
